Pergola Installation in Framingham

call us
We are the premiere pergolas builders in the area.
In its simplest form, a pergola is a two or four column structure, usually made out of wood that has crossbeams across the top. They are used to partially enclose an outdoor area of your home. They come in all different styles and fashions but in the end it is a type of overhead structure set outdoors. It can be freestanding or attached to your home or commercial building. This structure will either have an open roofing which can be covered with a fabric or material to create shade or a roof.  Despite the average pergola, they can be formed in all different shapes and sizes. They're usually made from wood but can also be made from plastic.

The Purpose of Pergolas
Pergolas are meant to give a feeling of enclosure an outdoor area. Adding a pergola to your outdoor living space will give it a secure and cozy feeling. Not to mention it gives a nice aesthetic to an outdoor area. There are multiple reasons people love adding pergolas to their outdoor living spaces. One reason is that it frames the area. The four columns of the pergola adds an invisible boundary to the area, giving it a subtle feeling of security. Another reason pergolas are great is because their design naturally incorporates nature and the outdoors. Pergolas are widely used to grow plants on. Vines and other climbing plants are meant to grow up and down the trellised roofing or siding. Pergola's roofs are usually left uncovered because it is intended that leafy vines will eventually grow overtop the structure, covering it enough to serve as a source of shade. You could however also just add a covering to your pergola for shade or protection from the elements.

It's obvious that pergolas are a unique and aesthetic outdoor structure. They can greatly help you to create an interesting outdoor space while also serving a purpose. Pergolas give a sense of intrigue to any backyard area. They can help create the perfect place to either socialize and entertain company or just sit and relax alone. Imagine, sitting out on your back deck or patio in the evening or night, covered by a pergola that features decorative plants and/or warm outdoor lighting draped across the top of it. How much trellis do you want to incorporate? Screened pergolas are also an option. A mesh screen will be added between each columns of your pergola. This screen can also be retractable if you find yourself wanting a more luxurious pergola. All of the design features are up to you and our company can deliver it.

Pergola vs Gazebo
People may sometimes confuse a pergola with a gazebo or even mistake an arbor as a smaller pergola. Let's make sure you're actually wanting to build a pergola by understanding the differences between these structures. The main difference between them is that a gazebo has a fully covered roof while pergolas offer open roofing to allow sunlight through. Other differences lie in their size, shape and even purpose. A gazebo is always a freestanding structure while pergolas can also be freestanding, they are often attached to a larger building or structure. Another difference in these two structures are their price. Pergolas are less expensive than gazebos because of the structure's simplicity.
